In addition to two top-of-the-line devices, Sony is announcing a ship date for its SmartBand wearable at Mobile World Congress this week.
Introduced at CES 2014, the SmartBand wants to be more than just a fitness tracker, attaching to a compatible Android “Lifelog” app that keeps track of location, music, games, books and more.
The SmartBand itself is actually the exterior portion of the Core sensor, a small waterproof module with Bluetooth 4.0 LE and NFC support. Eventually, the module will pair with various fashion accessories; it will ship in March, however, with a simple band.
No word on pricing or Canadian availability, but Sony says the SmartBand will be available “in over 60 markets worldwide.”
