Starting today, Canadians can purchase Samsung’s new Gear IconX cord-free earbuds at Samsung Experiences Stores across the country.
Priced at $279.99, the earbuds double as standalone fitness tracker thanks to included accelerometer and heart rate sensor. Bluetooth 4.1 and USB 2.0 connectivity allows users to upload their fitness stats to both Samsung’s own S Health app as well as third party apps like Google Fit.
What’s more, the earbuds don’t need to be paired with a smartphone to play music; they have 3.5GB of internal storage, enough space to store 1,000 songs, according to Samsung. Supported audio formats include MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV and WMA. Meanwhile, a built-in ambient mode ensures outside sounds pass through the device to make sure users are aware of their surroundings.
A touchpad on the outside of the earbuds allow users to control the device, while a specially designed case, included with purchase, both keeps the earbuds safe when not in use and charges them.
The Gear IconX is available in black, blue and white.
