Last week, we gave you a preview of Pebble’s new smartwatch appstore, and it is now available for download — on iOS, anyway. The company wrote in a blog post today that this is “the very first open platform for sharing apps optimized for wearables,” and the company will continue to innovate in the wearable space.
Pebble’s appstore also offers users a “locker,” a place where they can easily swap in and out up to eight apps and watchfaces from various parts of the market, divided into six categories: Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games.
The Pebble 2.0 app, which corresponds with the company’s 2.0 firmware, is a nice departure from the old version, improving the onboarding experience for new users — pairing, syncing, etc. — while allowing quick access to all the major areas of the appstore.
The company said that the Android version is still being fine-tuned, and will arrive “very, very soon.”
