It’s been a year since we first saw the G Flex, LG’s first attempt at a curved and flexible smartphone. Now it looks like the company might be ready to show off its second iteration of the phone with the flexible screen.
Rumour has it LG will unveil the G Flex 2 at CES this coming January. That’s just over five weeks from now. Android Authority cites sources that say the G Flex 2 will be a ‘major upgrade’ compared to the original but will be a smaller over all. An LG roadmap from earlier this year pointed to flexible devices, including smartphones and tablets, for 2015, so while CES is coming up fast, it’s not out of the realm of possibility as far as LG’s own calendar is concerned.
The first G Flex also had a curved battery, which will presumably make a comeback in version two, given it’s based on LG’s own patented technologies. Unfortunately, not much else is known about G Flex 2. Given its name, we’re assuming this device will be a lot closer to the G Flex in form factor than Samsung’s first and second curved display devices, the Note Edge and the Galaxy Round.
