It’s a simple question, but an important one: how will users with wired headphones listen to music on their iPhone 7 while charging now that Apple’s done away with the 3.5mm headphone jack?
By purchasing a $40 Belkin adapter, apparently.
The dongle comes with two lightning ports– one for the new Lightning EarPods (or free 3.5mm headphone adaptor that comes in the box with the iPhone 7 and 7S), and one for the charger. Called Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar, the product supports 48 kHz, 24-bit audio output and will be available on October 10th, 2016.
With Belkin’s Canadian regional site redirecting to the U.S. site, it appears the adapter is priced identically in both countries, which would be in keeping with Belkin’s standard approach. In additional to online purchase, the dongle will be available in Apple Stores.
