CES kicks off on Tuesday, January 6th, but most of the good stuff happens before then, at press conferences in various hotels around Las Vegas. Sony, for example, has a press conference schedules for early evening on January 5th and it looks like the company plans to announce yet another new smartphone at the show.
Last we heard, Sony was planning to unveil the Z4 in January, despite having just released the Z3 in September at IFA in Berlin. At the end of last month, there was talk that the company would announce the Z4, it’s fifth Xperia Z phone, as well as the Z4 Ultra, at CES.
Today Sony released a lovely five themed trailer for its CES event. Though the regular appearance of the number five could just be a nod to the date and time (the event itself kicks off at 5pm local time), the Xperia Z line debuted at CES. Not only that, but Sony has released four Xperia Z flagships in under two years. If that tells us anything, it’s that Sony doesn’t care about the traditional product refresh cycles.
