One of the big themes at Google I/O this year was making it easier for developers to get their apps up and running on Android and across multiple platforms. Google followed this up with the release of a Material Design checklist for developers creating apps for Android 5.0 Lollipop. Now, Google has published an 81-page “playbook” that offers tips on building a successful business from their Android apps.
The guide covers seven topics, including publishing your app, the fundamentals of building a great app, maximizing your application’s discoverability, measuring your reach with Google Analytics, and user engagement and retention. These sections offer tips and instruction on staged rollouts of updates, distribution via multiple Android platforms (Android Wear, Android TV), Material Design implementation, and guidelines for developing a quality tablet app.
The book is available via the Play Store but can also be downloaded as a PDF. Google has promised additional languages in the coming months.
