Rogers’ Samsung Galaxy S II LTE was one of my favourite versions of the series, with decent battery life, fast LTE speeds and a professional look. Recently, a finished version of the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the AT&T Skyrocket leaked, which has been altered to work with the very-similar Rogers SGSII LTE.
So far everything seems to be much smoother than Gingerbread, and app compatibility doesn’t seem to be an issue.
If you have endeavoured to root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery, the update is very easy to install. Just remember to back up your Gingerbread ROM in case anything goes haywire (which, admittedly, it has been for some people). While the ROM was actually released last week, it took a few days for developers to correctly adapt it to work with the Rogers version.
Remember to follow the instructions in the thread exactly, or you may end up with a semi-bricked device.
If you’re ready for the ICS goodness (which is, unfortunately, still TouchWIZ-based), head on over to XDA-Developers and let us know how it works out for you!
No word on when Rogers is planning to release an official update for this device, so a custom ROM may be your best bet for a while.
