UGO Wallet has added a third and fourth credit card partner to its mobile payments app, available for Android and BlackBerry 10.
MBNA and CUETS Financial will each add their MasterCard-based credit cards to the UGO Wallet service in the near future, which will, at least on Android, coincide with the company’s expansion to Host Card Emulation support. This eliminates the need for a specialized secure SIM card and specific device certification; all NFC-capable Android phones running KitKat 4.4 and above will be able to make in-store payments.
“UGO Wallet continues to push forward as Canada’s leading open digital wallet solution,” said Alec Morley, CEO of UGO. “This announcement reaffirms our commitment to include new issuers to the wallet, while introducing new capabilities that fit the needs of our customers.”
UGO Wallet launched in late 2014 with support for TD Canada Trust and PC Financial credit cards. It is a joint venture between the two financial institutions.
