In an effort to shore up sales of its lower-cost smartphone lineup, Rogers today launched a new curated section called Staff Picks.
Featuring devices that the carrier stands behind, Rogers notes “just like the days of video stores with a section devoted to employee picks, it makes making a [smartphone buying] decision easier.”
To add value to the prospect of buying a Staff Pick, the first of which is the just-released Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, is the self-imposed stipulation that it must be priced under $99 on a 2-year contract offer “great value,” according to Rogers. To entice potential customers to purchase a Staff Pick device, Rogers has extended the typical one-year warranty to two years.
Rogers says it will feature at least once new device every quarter. Finally, the company says that “a wide range of Rogers staff will continue to be a part of the device selection process.”
A curated section of Rogers’ device lineup, which is expanding every quarter, is well overdue.
