LG is apparently testing a mid-range Windows Phone device in Korea

Though the list of Windows Phone hardware partners used to include HTC, LG, Samsung, Dell, and Huawei, once Windows Phone 8 launched, that list got smaller. There were many more Windows Phone devices on the market thanks to Nokia’s numerous different models, but Samsung, LG and HTC started to back off.

HTC re-entered the market after a two-year hiatus with a Windows Phone version of the M8, and now it looks like LG, which stopped making Windows Phones back in the days of Windows Phone 7, could be taking another shot at Microsoft’s mobile OS.

SlashGear points to a recent study from AdDuplex on Windows Phone OEMs that includes some data from LG. AdDuplex releases this report on Windows Phone OEMs every month and this latest slideshow is dated December 22nd. On page 15, the company notes the appearance of two new devices.

One is the seemingly mid-range Microsoft RM-1068, which is seen exclusively in Brazil and makes sense given Microsoft makes its own Windows Phone devices now. More interesting is the LG LGVW820, which shows up in Korea and supposedly has a 4.7-inch 480×854 display.

AdDuplex admits that it is hard to keep track of all the Windows Phone devices given how many OEMs there are, but an appearance from a well known brand like LG caught their attention.

LG is rumoured to be hard at work developing the G4 as well as the G Flex 2 (which we could see as early as next week). Both of these devices are more exciting than what smells like a mid-range Windows Phone device. Still, the fact that the likes of LG and HTC are still looking at Windows Phone as a viable opportunity is great for Windows Phone and its users. The more the merrier.
