Last night, Samsung unveiled the latest two of nine tablets introduced so far this year. And it’s not even summer.
The Galaxy Tab S comes in two colours and two sizes, 8.4- and 10.5-inches, both with insanely high-resolution 2560×1600 pixel Super AMOLED displays. Also on board is an octo-core Exynos processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, a fingerprint scanner and plenty of battery life for a 6.6mm-thin chassis.
The tablets each come with Samsung’s updated Magazine UX, along with little touches like free comic book subscriptions from Marvel, trial subscriptions to a number of magazines from Conde Nast, and plenty of Galaxy Gifts.
If you’re interested in picking up one or both of these beauties, they are now available for pre-order from many of Canada’s largest retailers, including Best Buy, Future Shop, The Source and Staples. We reported the US versions going for $399 and $499 respectively, and we now know that the Canadian variant will have a $20 premium.
The Android 4.4.2-powered tablets will be available on June 27th, and will be accompanied by a variety of accessories, including a keyboard dock and a couple of leather cases, one of which doubles as a stand.
Update: Today is June 27th and this means the new Galaxy Tab S tablets — 8.4- and 10.5-inch — are both available in Canadian retail locations. The prices range from $419.99 to $519.99. The available colours are Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White. Make sure you check out our hands-on here. – IH
