Apple’s 2025 iPhone 16/Apple Watch event is on September 9

Apple is holding its marquee fall event one day before all the leakers predicted

Apple has sent out the 2024 iPhone event invitations, clarifying that the event is on Monday, September 9th.

While rumours were pointing toward the 10th, Apple has decided on the 9th instead, and the invitation uses the tagline “It’s Glowtime” with an Apple logo reminiscent of the new visual language the company has been using for Siri and its upgraded AI features.

As usual, the event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater on Apple’s Campus in Cupertino at 10am PT/1pm ET.

So far, nothing else is known, but rumours are pointing towards a new camera button on the Pro iPhones, the Action button coming to the regular iPhones and larger Apple Watch models with a thinner design.

I’m excited since the iPhone 16 series will be the first full batch of phones to all support Apple Intelligence, and it’s expected that all the 16 phones will support Apple’s updated mobile GPU architecture. This should make the iPhone 16 a powerhouse for mobile gaming. So far, only 15 Pros support these features, so getting more devices up to par with Apple’s top-of-the-line phones should help developers roll out more features that take advantage of the excellent hardware.

While I like being part of the early adopter wave, it generally takes about three years for most new features to really spread to the masses and the iPhone 16 should help push Apple’s AI and gaming mandates to even more people, finally making it worthwhile for more developers to take advantage of the hardware.
