WestJet to pimp out some planes with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 8.9

WestJet and Seattle-based Skycast Solutions have struck a deal that will offer flyers the option to rent the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. Currently the contract is for 4 planes, specifically the Boeing 737-800, as they aren’t outfitted with any entertainment system. In total WestJet will have 68 Tabs available per plane, for a total of 272. The Tab 8.9 has been given a fancy name and called the TrayVu Slim, aptly fits on the tray table and will run a customized version of Android. The service will offer new movie releases, TV shows, children’s shows, plus will come with a complimentary set of headphones. WestJet is expected to roll this service out in June and the rental fee is still being worked out, but estimated to be between $10-$15 per trip.
