Toronto’s Honk parking platform has announced a partnership with Toronto Community Housing, the second largest housing provider in North America. The partnership now gives Honk users access to thousands of additional monthly parking options across the city.
The HonkMobile app allows drivers to search for, pay for and top up parking directly from their smartphone, tablet or computer. Further, Honk now gives access to more people in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), where demand far exceeds supply, with the integration of the monthly pass feature.
Honk users can now purchase a monthly pass for one of the thousands of underground and above ground parking spots using the app. Additionally, Honk will reinvest profits from each parking transaction booked from HonkMobile into the Toronto Community Housing Corporation.
Honk is available at 206 community housing locations around Toronto and the GTA, and the company promises to add more lots in the coming months to accommodate growing demand.
Honk has been looking into this partnership since earlier this spring according to founder and CEO Michael Back.
“Honk is committed to operating a responsible and sustainable business that positively impacts the communities of our users,” said Back in a press statement.
“Our partnership with the Toronto Community Housing Corporation demonstrates how tech can work with community organizations to produce innovative solutions that help improve the lives of residents while furthering those organizations’ missions. This is a win-win for Toronto Community Housing, as well as for motorists who are on the hunt for affordable monthly parking in the city,” said Back.
According to Back, Toronto isn’t the only community that the company is looking into making partnerships with.
“We are actively looking to partner with other communities around Canada and we hope they will adopt our innovative parking solution in the near future.”
