In addition to the Z3 that BlackBerry announced today, CEO John Chen also said the company will bring a ‘classic’ take on one of their BlackBerry 10 smartphones. It was rumoured that BlackBerry would re-introduce the “belt” of function keys and trackpad back into its devices and Chen confirmed this by saying the Q20, along with a “classic” BlackBerry look, will launch later this year. Think of the Q20 as a Q10 with QWERTY/Touch, then add in the classic navigation keys (menu, back, send, end) and a trackpad.
According to the official press release, the Q20 will feature BES 12, “a generous 3.5-inch touchscreen,” with a “large battery” and is “crafted from premium materials and designed for reliability and durability.” We can expect this flagship to hit markets “in the second half of 2014.”
