Oculus has announced that its Rift Core 2.0 virtual reality (VR) interface is now available in beta through a free software update.

Rift Core 2.0 aims to completely overhaul the Oculus Rift VR experience with a revamped interface called Dash and a customizable ‘Home’ space.

The new Dash interface lets users interact with their desktop computers while in VR. Specifically, Oculus Desktop will allow users to access their Windows apps from within Oculus VR. The overall redesign is intended to focus on making it easier to discover new games and apps, as well as engage in social content.

Home, meanwhile, lets users decorate their VR spaces using interactive objects and furniture options. Previously, Home was a fixed virtual environment that was used to navigate menus, with little options for customizing the aesthetic.

More information of Rift Core 2.0 can be found in Oculus’ ‘Getting Started’ guide.
