During Mobile World Congress, Alcatel — formally known as Alcatel One Touch — unveiled a number of new smartphones. Most notably, the company announced the 5.5-inch Idol 4S, which comes in packaging that doubles as a Google Cardboard VR headset.

While we’ve yet to hear from Alcatel when this Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-powered smartphone will come to Canada, it seems the company is also working on bringing a similar smartphone to those more inclined to get a Windows 10 device.

According to reputable device leaker Evan Blass, Alcatel will launch a handset called the Idol 4 Pro, and it will run Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mobile OS. Unfortunately, no other details were revealed by Blass, including release date, internal specs or pricing.

For reference, the Idol 4S features a 1440 x 2560 pixel AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor, 16-megapixel camera, 32GB of storage and a 3000 mAh battery. Included with the phone are JBL J22 headphones.

Alcatel are completely crap products, don’t last long and good-luck with software updates

Updates won’t be an issue with the W10M version of the phone.

    • While they definitely are not high end devices. They are great devices for budget conscious consumers who want a great little device.

so many oem’s are either going to make or already making windows 10 mobile devices. Glad to see W10M will live on.

with more support, hopefully it will encourage Microsoft to further polish Windows 10 Mobile!

I get new builds of Windows 10 Mobile every week or two (I’m on the “fast ring”). So they’re definitely putting a lot of work into it.

Would love to see one of these dual-boot Windows 10 and Android 6. Since it’s running a 652 it should also support Continuum on the Windows side.
