Fido launches new data plan for iPads

Fido has rolled out a new data flex plan specifically for the iPad. This was originally scheduled to be available over a month ago and has nothing to do with the upcoming Apple iPad 3 event on Wednesday, however the timing is impeccable. As you can see the above internal doc shows the rates starting at $10 for up to 150MB, then $25 for up to 1GB and rises to $35/month for up to 5GB. Any overage is clocked in at 2¢/MB, plus a lovely “one-time activation fee of $35 applies”.

Fido makes a point to remind their customers that the “iPads are not available for purchase in Fido retail and dealer stores”, so this means that you’ll have to go the Apple Store or Apple Authorized Resellers and purchase one, then go to Fido and activate your microSIM. There are a few stipulations, such as this plan is not available to “iPads purchased outside of Canada”, and “Wi-Fi only iPad models”. Finally, Fido made a graph that compares their plan to the other carriers (below).
