The world’s most expensive mobile phone is worth a mere $8 million and it’s decked out with 500 individually cut diamonds that total a shabby 100 carats. Yes, the new iPhone 4 is the device of choice and the home button is interchangeable with a glorious 7.4 carat pink diamond and also a rare 8 carat single cut diamond. Want more? The back is covered in rose gold with the Apple logo encrusted by 53 diamonds. I’m sold.
There were two of these made by British designer Stuart Hughes who said ” ”It was a fantastic challenge and I am really pleased with the end result – the phones look superb. Phones are so popular at the moment and this is the ultimate design for one. The diamonds are rare and difficult to source, stones like that usually have a very long history. It is amazing that someone is prepared to spend £5 million on a phone, I doubt it will get used because it is worth so much money. It would be a disaster if it was ever lost.”

The iPhone 4 Unlocked is available at PureMobile.
If I had that kind of money I would blow it on an HTC Desire Z. Ha!

500 diamonds placed as fingerholders? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to use that raw material to make a screen that won’t crack?!?! Duh!

That’s just the no term contract price.
It’s only $2 million on a Rogers 3 year contract of $80 or more a month voice and data.
For an extra $1 million you can buy extended warranty.

Adding a bunch of diamonds to a mainstream commercial product designed to exemplify the principles of simplicity and functionality is hardly “the ultimate design.” It’s an obscene joke.

So, the choices are:
1) an iPhone 4
or
2) a chalet in Whistler, a condo in NYC, and a beach-house in South beach
…
Decisions, decisions!

I never understood why people add jewelery to a tech device. Diamonds and such are suppose to last forever, while tech products have a shelf-life of a year. They basically wasted 8 million dollars of diamonds.

Do the diamonds give it better reception or something?

Too bad a once good blog about the Canadian mobile scene is starting to turn into another generic junk news outlet. I read mobilesyrup less and less.
