Canada has sure been busy in 2009… it seemed a new device was coming out every week. With more Canadians embracing their mobile for more than a phone we’re curious what you think the best device was in Canada this year (keep in mind that Bell is releasing the BlackBerry 8530 on December 26th).
Here are a few (not all) that might get you thinking about what each has to offer:
HTC Hero, Touch Pro2, Maple, Magic or Dream
Apple iPhone 3GS
Palm Pre or Treo Pro
HP iPAQ 910
BlackBerry Storm 9550, 9520 or the 9700, 8900 or 9630
LG Chocolate, Eve, Xenon, IQ, Neon, Rumour2 or Keybo2
Motorola Rival or VE465
Sony Ericsson C905, XPERIA X1, W705, C510
Nokia N97, 5800 XpressMusic, N86
Samsung Galaxy, Reclaim, Omnia II, Vice or Link
So what do you think is best. you can even break it down into Smartphones, OS, weight, value for price etc…
I would have to say a jailbroken 3GS. If you want to stay legit, the BB Tour.

I traded in my blackberry for an HTC Hereo about a month ago and its the best decision I have ever made. Android is awesome, and the hardware is there to support it. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a phone.

To be honest I hate Apple and the iPhone, but it would have to be the 3GS on either Bell or Telus.

I would have to say the 9700 or the palm pre.
NOt many people are even aware of the pre due to their lack of good advertising, but if you took the time to use it you’ll appreciate the pre for what it is, a truly amazing platform.

Technically speaking, 3GS or Bold 9700. Otherwise, it’s a matter of opinion. I think Pre, Samsung Galaxy, Tour were also very strong devices.

The jailbroken 3GS or the Palm Pre. This is based on their technical and friendliness merits.

The copycatters all want to produce something better than the iPhone, but all they are doing is riding (free riding) off iPhone’s success.
My vote is on the 3GS. Motorola’s droid won’t make it to Canada until 2010.

LG IQ is probably the best powerhouse out there with its capacity to play and record HD video, a projector as well as a much more capable keyboard than any other phone except for the TP2.
The omnia II has the best screen, but the UI samsung put on there slows things down considerably and the screen is not the most sensitive resistive I have ever seen (my TP2 and the IQ are both more responsive)

I would say the hero but if the Motorola Droid came out then that would be it. I’m willing to give up BBM for the Droid in a secound.

In the value category, the Nokia 5800 is the best. It is hundreds of dollars cheaper then the others.
Best looking phone is the Storm 2.
Best overall would have to be the Hero.

I’d have to say the Tour 9630 would be the best device I got this year. Other than that, it’d have to be the Bold 9700.

(Same processor speed, memory, screen, Android version … only the HTC Sense UI, the 3.5mm audio jack and the 5mpx camera make the difference)

blackberry bold 9700 that optical trackpad is so good, i hated the old trackballs on blackberrys. second in my books is the palm pre. i seriously hate the 3gs, why? because its a 3g with some extra features that shouldve been in iphone three years ago, specifically mms! my w580i does that! and its a “dumbphone”, apple seriously ticks me off and im sick of the iphone hype

It’s hard to vote for any Android phone since they all launched with 1.5 and so far none of them are looking like they are going to be updated.
Otherwise I’ll say the 3GS or the 9700.
