LG G6 appears in leaked press render

Looks great. Definitely a contender. While I like my current S7 Edge, I’m pretty tired of waiting forever for Samsung to catch up on Android releases. I think LG’s record is a little better in that regard, but not sure. Where’s the power button? Hoping it also has a headphone jack and assume it will be USB-C.

power button is in the fingerprint reader on the back of the device. as previous leaks have said the phone will have the same audio dac system as the lg v20 so it must have a headphone jack to take part in that future.

Actually I think I read that the DAC in the G6 is even better than the V20.

Yep, LG Korea states that it will have an upgraded Quad Dac https://mobilesyrup.com/2017/02/13/lg-launches-g6-information-sign-up/

Will the LG skin be fairly close to stock Android?

If it is, it makes this an incredibly intruiging phone. If the camera has good results, the excellent DAC, small bezels, clean look, lack of silly gimmicks, all make this a really interesting phone. Is there word on price point yet?

    • Garrett Cooper

Not that I’ve seen. I want a Pixel but they’re still full price, and I don’t want to wait for the Pixel 2 because my HTC M8 feels just a bit too slow coming from my now dead Z5. It’s between the S8 and G6. Not a fan of Samsung as I had an S2/3/4 that all had issues. Stock, or close Android on the G6 would really help my decision.

Agreed on Samsung. I had an S2/4/5. The 2 was fine, I actually really liked that phone, but both the 4 and 5 left me with an impression of “meh”. I didn’t really have issues with them, other than they were far slower than they should have been, and nothing about them made me say “this is a great device”.

I’m currently using an old Nexus 5, which runs better than my Galaxy S5, and now that I’ve been using stock Android, I don’t think I could go back to a heavy skin like Touchwiz.

My S2 did some crazy stuff. Full battery to dead in minutes, etc. It was terrible, especially when I was travelling for work. The 3 was ok, but only had it for a month, went back to Nexus because of stock Android like you mentioned. The 4 I had was problematic and would randomly stop reading the SIM card, which apparently was common.

Although the G6 is looking find of meh, and since I don’t want to wait till the fall, I may go with an S8 if it impresses me enough.

If enough people feel the way that I do about curved screens, then it definitely has a shot. I don’t foresee ever buying an “edge” device. Too many broken screen stories for my liking.
