LG G4 specs leak thanks to GFXBench

LG G3

Details on LG’s next flagship phone continue to trickle out thanks to a benchmark that was uploaded to GFXBench.

Based on this benchmark, it seems clear that last week’s leak was of a mid-range G4 variant. The phone last week had a baseband version description that said “M8936″. Those set of letters and numbers usually correspond to phone that’s powered by a Snapdragon 610.

In contrast, this new benchmark indicates that the flagship G4 is likely powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808. Additionally, the benchmark says the phone is outfitted with a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 display, 3GB of RAM and a 15 megapixel back facing camera. It also comes with Android 5.1, not 5.0.2.

As several sites have noted, LG’s choice of processor is interesting. Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 810, is quickly gaining a reputation for generating large amounts of heat. LG’s engineers may have decided that using a slightly weaker processor was preferable to one has that has issues dissipating heat.

Whatever the case, we’ll have to wait until the phone is officially announced to find out its final specs, and whether it’s making its way to Canada. LG is holding a press conference on April 28th.
