Galaxy S7 Keyboard Cover now available for pre-order, brings back the physical QWERTY love

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are already available to pre-order at most Canadian carriers and will officially launch on March 11th. Depending on the carrier, pricing starts at $199 on contract and rises to $1,000 no-term, but those who pre-order also score a free Gear VR headset.

There are already a plethora of accessories available for the unreleased smartphone, such as skins, cases and screen protectors, but none of them come close to the fitted hard shell keyboard cover. This was first unveiled last year with the Galaxy S6, and it’s coming back this time around with the GS7. Big box retailer Best Buy has this keyboard available to pre-order now for $80, which comes in black or gold to compliment the upcoming device.

The accessory is reminiscent of BlackBerry’s physical keyboard because of its full QWERTY keyboard. It attaches to the device and has pressure sensitive keys that when pressed, display a virtual replica of touchscreen keys, conveying button presses through a capacitive layer under the keyboard cover.

When the case is removed, the Galaxy goes back to being a widescreen, standard Android device.
