Update: How did you watch the Olympic men’s hockey semi-finals?

It seemed like all of Canada was watching yesterday’s Olympic women’s hockey final. On my way out for a MobileSyrup meetup, I saw it blaring from televisions in packed sports bars, on the radio in my cab ride, and streaming from laptops in Starbucks. Everyone I met in-between was following Twitter for the latest updates (which, lacking context, were not entirely helpful, as when my entire feed screamed “GOALPOOOSST!” at once).

It seems unlikely that today’s semi-final game (Canada vs. USA: the Re-Hockeying) will be any less watched. So we want to know how. Are you following along through traditional media (TV, radio)? Streaming the game digitally? Watching on your smartphone or tablet? At home, out with friends, or in the office boardroom?

Post a comment and let us know how and why you’re watching the game the way you are. And don’t forget to give a shout out to the town where you’re watching the game. Canada is a large country, but #wearewinter from coast to coast.

Update #2: CBC has just released some impressive stats regarding online viewing of the semi-final yesterday:

“Yesterday’s Men’s Ice Hockey semifinal game between Canada and the USA registered the highest online viewing audience ever to a CBC live event, with a (preliminary) average audience of more than 625,000 on CBC and Radio-Canada’s desktop and mobile devices combined. This beats the previous record of 325,000, set during the Women’s Ice Hockey gold medal game, also featuring Canada and the USA.”
