TELUS is the only carrier that has actually confirmed launching the LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy Note. No worries though Canada, this smartphone/tablet will also be coming to Bell and Rogers. A bit of news as we’ve received various tips that the Note has arrived in TELUS’ upgrade system, but not officially active. As you can see by the image above it’s currently set at the high place holder price point of $999. There’s no official word on the prices yet – only that it’ll be available “mid-February”.
We’ll have more info soon.
(Thanks tipsters!)
I don’t think it will cost $999

It’s hasn’t been officially announced as “released”, so the price is artificial, until the phone is actually advertised as “for sale”.
As for a phone itself, unless you’re 6’5″, and have King King hands, this this is HUGE! It’s a mini-tablet, not a phone.

650 is a really good price since it’s imported from europe or asia. I managed to pick one up for 400 euros here in germany. But since the prices have skyrocketed and sell for close to 600 euros because everyone has run out of stock.
Personally, I think the note is overally criticized and harshley reviewed. Yes it’s a big phone. Get over it. But this shouldn’t be the main reason as to the reason the phone should be judged so harshly. In my personal opinion, there’s no other phone on the market that can compete. I made this purchase knowing that the quad core s3 was coming out and really didn’t want to wait till the june release anyways. You pick the phone that fits your needs and lifestyle.
The Note really fits a niche market which people tend to forget. It’s not meant to be the next gen s2. samsung does have a winner on its hand. I mean one million shipped speaks volumes. I personally think the screen is really really spectacular and performance is awesome. The S spen is also really accurate and useful.
As an avid blackberry user, it’s easy for me to type on the note BECAUSE of its size. I used an s2 lte before the note and really couldn’t survive without swype – I was terrible with the keyboard.
And you really do get used to the size – I don’t even notice that’s it’s much bigger than other phones. Samsung also pushed out updates for easier one handed typing for those with smaller hands. They really took care in designing the phone. And for the size of the screen, pen, and massive battery, it’s impossibly thin!
I jut hope the carriers don’t outprice the phone in canada!

I would be interested to know if users of this mini tablet like using the stylus. If so, perhaps other tablet makers will include stylii with future tablets.

I agree with you.
Telus got a crappy SGS2 and now they get a crappy Galaxy Note.
The original exynos ones are much better.
However the chip they are using is Snapdragon S3, not S4

The Samsung guy who takes car of TELUS gave me a sample unit 2 weeks ago.. He challenged me to give up my iPhone for 2 days completely..I tried to go back to my 4S after and I couldn’t.. Screen size, surfing, email, texting and everything else was just better..Safe to say he’s not getting the sample back.. People..this is one ultra cool phone..yes..PHONE..I’m not the biggest Samsung fan however I am a fan of this phone..

I had the Streak prior to the Note and I loved it! The Note just accentuated all the features of the Streak and streamlined the design. I love my Note and in response to @I Heart Pusi ….I use the stylus a fair amount. I recently had to send images of damage to a case for the wife’s phone…I was able to use the stylus to circle and highlight the damaged areas. I make all my notes, reminders, grocery lists….using the stylus. I agree the the whole 5 inch phones business is over exaggerated. People carried PSP’s in their pockets and that device was relatively large! This phone has no problems fitting in your pocket unless you wear your girlfriends skinny jeans! Not having to pinch, zoom, and kink your neck to see the screen is a bonus. Plus if you like to customize your display….even more room for goodies!

No Exynos on the american version = No buy.
I’m sick of Sammy being so lazy, were paying a pretty good buck so give us everything we’re paying for..

The Exynos chip doesnt play well with the LTE module. (thought everyone would’ve known this by now?) The Qualcomm may be slower, but it works perfectly fine.
If this really bothers you that much, go buy the international version.

That is the reason bluetooth devices are and while speaking , you are hands free and actually do other tasks on the phone if you want to. GSM technoly can deliver that result compared to CDMA, where multi-tasking is difficult.
