HTC Amaze 4G “Coming Soon” to Videotron

Well this sums up the rumours that have surfaced online about the HTC Amaze heading towards other carriers, most notably WIND Mobile. Quebec-based Videotron has posted the Android 2.3-powered, 4.3-inch touchscreen screen, 1.5 GHz dual core processor device online with the famous “coming soon”. No date or price points were given, but they do say that the Amaze is “a phone that lives up to its name”… and is by far the carriers best Android handset. Until this drops you can check out our full video review here.

  1. Picked one of these up from Telus. Even with Sense this is an incredibly competent phone!

  3. Nice to see Vidéotron offering “superphones” but at this point I think everyone is waiting for the Galaxy Nexus. Also, they need some sort of Early Upgrade plans :)

    • They already have some sort of early upgrade plan. Just pay the balance of your old phone, there are no cancellation fees.

  4. Check out Vidéotron for this HTC Amaze, then if you can, leave them for WIND or Mobilicity instead.

    • You, sir, are truly the opposite of being a “Proud Canadian”. Clearly, you should consider leaving Canada.

Back on topic. WIND/Mobi play the price cards. Videotron has the network coverage and quality cards down. It’s a matter of juggling them and what matters to the consumers.

And for most, price is the winning factor :P . You Gatinois have it lucky.

  5. Videotron has good plan but the phone price is too expensive. If the Blackberry Bold 9900 is 189$ 3 year contract. I can’t imagine the price of this phone is :(

  6. Why pick a HTC Amaze 4G, when you can have a Galaxy Nexus (tmobile) ? :)

  8. It’s too bad we don’t get Mobi or Wind here in Quebec… Videotron is ok and their plans aren’t that bad, but they don’t compare to Mobi or Wind.

Still this phone ain’t too bad I suppose, but the battery life is lacking, the S-LCD is no SAmoled+, Sense is beyond tiresome at this point and the processor is a bit dated even at 1.5 Ghz Dual-Core.

Rooted this could be quite decent however and could alleviate some issues.

    • How is the processor dated when that is pretty much the best Qualcomm chip on the market?

Aside from that, not all LCDs are alike, and the Amaze has a very good screen even if it is not based on AMOLED technology. LCDs tend to have truer colours even if they aren’t as good in contrasts and saturation.

The build quality of this phone feels like it can smash apart other phones.

  9. i picked up amaze , because of….

    1) the feel of it,
i had both galaxy S ( old old) and the desire HD
i am the kind of person who dont like a light phone.
the amaze is right for my hand.

    2) great camera

    3)qHD not 720p
I dont believe the 540 can drive new future high demand games on the 720p screen
I rather go for 220 with qHD instead.

    4) built quality ( i hate plastic )

    5) SD card slot.

  10. The best Qualcomm chip on the market doesn’t mean anything. It’s a slow Snapdragon S3 running on Cortex A8 technology with an outdated Adreno GPU. It’s not in the same realm as the Exynos in the GS2. LCD may have truer colors, but they have a washed out feeling with considerably poorer viewing angles and poor contrast and saturation.

HTC have also an amazingly bad track record with the battery life on their devices, something an AMOLED screen with a dark background would help tremendously.

Before Qualcomm release their Krait SoC, their current offerings are crap.
