  3. Great price for a fairly decent phone.

The specs on this phone nice for either a second phone or a phone for someone switching from a dumbphone or even some who just like to text message like kids.

    • well to be fair this phone has a better display resolution, and a better CPU (however it might be a ARM11 CPU which should perform like a 600 MHz Cortex A8)

But it is true that it only has 256MB of RAM and at least Android is a real OS with a future, unlike Symbian.

    • LG Optimus One is $200 at Telus or $150 at Koodo.
But I do wish Mobilicity had it, though my hands on experience with it wasn’t that great.
Maybe they’ll bring this $200 Samsung Galaxy W though their Madness prices on Panache were excellent.

Though I do wish Mobilicity did offer it my hands on experience with it wasn’t so good, though it is one of T-Mobile’s bestsellers.

Maybe Mobilicity will be able to bring this Samsung Galaxy W for $200 as an entry level Android though their deals on Panache during Midnight Madness sale was very good

  7. @ astudent: If it ran WP7, a lot of people would not be interested. Have you noticed what happened to Nokia’s share price when they announced the switch to WP7?

Crazy stuff going on there. They alienated a lot of Symbian users and now they are killing their best phone ever: The Nokia N9 running MeeGo. It is not allowed to be successful, in order to “verify” the management’s decisions. Hence it is hugely overpriced and only available in a few select markets. Stinks.

This Nokia 500 phone looks decent. But the people in charge of naming Nokia devices should be re-educated. There was a Nokia 500 Monitor, then a Nokia 500 navigation device and now a Nokia 500 phone. Silly.

    • The N9, beautiful phone I may add came out at an interesting time. I believe Nokia made the right decision to switch to a different platform, they were lagging behind with symbian and meego (great OS but maybe too late). I know a lot of people who are interested in getting nokia windows phones, it is one of the most feature rich experiences out of the box without getting additional apps. So with my own subjective experience, it goes against your points. Its just one of those things.

PS I believe the N9 is not overpriced considering the phone is made in FINLAND NOT THE EAST. I would GLADLY pay more for a phone if I knew it was made in a proper factory with high standards.

  10. This phone reminds me of my old nokia from 2003. Looks solid, looks cute, makes me wanna buy it and forget about all these crazy 5″ monsters.

  11. @kevinc isn’t MS changing the hardware requirements for Apollo, so it might even run on this phone. I would love to see what XDA developers do with this in the future, never know what these guys can do (such talented individuals)

  14. This is an amazing phone for the price. 1Ghz processor, capacitive screen, WiFi AND pentaband radio for $170? And Ovi maps are free and work offline. For that price, it’s worth buying it as a worldwide GPS even without using the telephone part!

  16. The fact that it’s running Symbian, which Nokia is slowly phasing out, alienates me from the phone just a little.

To it’s credit, it blows the Spice out of the water, and seems like it gives the Galaxy Mini a run for it’s money based on it’s value.
