Rogers Sony Ericsson Xperia Play gets upgraded to OS 2.3.3

The Rogers Sony Ericsson Xperia arc received its upgrade to Android OS 2.3.3 a couple weeks back, and now the Xperia Play has been upgraded too. Probably the best feature that this upgrade brings is the “Facebook inside Xperia” feature, this gives you the ability to access Facebook from the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar.

Get it here from Sony Ericsson

    • To be honest 2.3.3 was out before today. I got the first SE ARC from the Sony store & it was pre installed 2.3.3. + you could have downloaded 2.3.3 a week ago from Sony Companion desktop. Rogers did deliver the update fast due that they noticed everyone is leaving Rogers for Bell / Telus / Mobilicity/ Wind & public mobile ( sorry if i forgot any other ones.) They also learned that Costumers do not like having to wait a year to get an update either from Sony Or Rogers.. Please talk to your boss or whoever Makes you post things & tell them to start bringing in newer phones that Rogers can compete with & Also plans like bell that has 85$ for 2gbs data & 300 mins. That will be a winner for Rogers.

BTW Elise. Does Rogers ever plan on Getting any other type of phones…

The play & ARC are amazing. I left my iphone once i noticed that you can do more then just an iphone can. Coming from someone that had all the versions of the iphones & jailbroken them.

  4. Rogers suck and this is from a Rogers customer. They lie and renew your contract for something like doubling your data. Big scammers!

  5. Don’t both of these phones have front cameras? Why not go with 2.3.4 and get the new google talk? That update had a host of bug fixes too.
Sony wants you to be up to date, but not *too* up to date.

    • Not the Xperia Arc (which boggles my mind why it’s missing), just the Xperia PLAY has one.

  6. Also, I’d say that the best feature that 2.3.3 brings over older versions of GB is not rebooting in the middle of a call. I’ll take that over facebook any day.

  8. well done rogers, been impressed how quickly you’ve been rolling out android updates after the unbranded update comes out.

@Dimitri I don’t know what the **** you’re saying? people are leaving because rogers isn’t pushing out updates for phones that other carriers don’t have quick enough?

does rogers plan on getting other types of phones? what do you think? they are just going to stop getting new phones??

but the arc and play are amazing??

2 gigs and 300 mins is easily beatable by rogers, so I don’t know where you’re going here, maybe think a bit more before the next post!

    • Look at all the htc’s, samsungs and motorola phones telus and bell has. Maybe then you will see the line up that Rogers has compared to them. Rogers only gets what Sony products and iPhones and some year old samsung phones. Please I called Rogers and bitched at them that bell has that plan and a they could offer has 10 dollars off my plan. Which I rather pay 90 a month for an extra gb and also an extra 100 mins then to stay with a company that has no new phone that can compete with the other companies and also respect to people that have been with them for over 10 years.

  9. Sweet! I own an arc and it is a fantastic phone. If they keep this up, I will not hesitate to get their dual core phones when it releases. Experience with SE has been terrific. Love the design too!

    • It’s expected to release next month, in August for unbranded kits. If it does release for branded kits, it will be up to Rogers to update the Xperia X10 if they still care or have an intention too…

  11. @Tyson, it’s rumored to be Q3 or Q4 of 2011, I’m not sure if that’s changed, or not.
