This is smelling like new Windows Phone 7 devices are en route to TELUS. They have just discounted both of their WP7 devices to $29.99 on a 3-year. The no-contract prices stay they same but this might be a good time to get the LG Optimus 7 or the HTC 7 Surround because they are also throwing in a free Xbox 360.

If the phones are reduced to $30 then mind as well just make it free on a 3 year because no matter what promos or discounts they give to customers, Telus pockets $1800 over 3 years(based on minimum $50 plan) of us.

Instead, you can do what my friend did. Get the Optimus 7 out off contract ($499) and bind it to a pre-paid plan.
Works fine for him (he barely talks on the phone).

I don’t think the problem is only WP7. The other problem is that there is no high end WP7 phone. Nothing to compete with the Atrix, or even the Desire HD and the Galaxy S Vibrant (the HD7 and the Samsung Focus have worse specs)

Any Canadian considering a Windows Phone should take a look at the number of features not available outside the USA via this handy chart.

Compared to the HTC HD7 and the Samsung Focus the LG devices to date are a bit underwhelming.

Screw You. I got an LG Optimus 7 and love this device. Gorilla glass-I dropped it on a side and no scratched, tons free LG apps, tethering, etc. I was envy of Samsung, but if I was to choose again, I stick to LG Optimus 7. The only issue I got is the usb being located on the side. WP7 is also awesome. I look at my wife’s iPhone and it looks so dated. Even worst is Android–the interface is a wreck.
29.00 for a device…I’ve saw Android for free, so whats the dif?

Wow, brilliant comment. Obviously another clueless troll that never used WP7.

Stop spreading FUD, that only applies to first 12-month. After which you can drop it down to $20/month for emergency use if you wanted to.
If you just want to look cool in public with the smartphones without a data plan to impress the ladies, you can pay extra $200 up front and go straight to the $20/month. /sarcasm Though if she asks you to check out her facebook page…
Last time I checked, cell phones don’t grow on trees..

I highly doubt new WP7 devices are coming to BELUS anytime soon. More likely is the the current devices have no demand hence the desperate promo. WP7 has potential as the UI is above average but the eco system just not there.
