Sudbury woman hides handmade crocheted Pokémon around the city

Sheilaugh Samplonius, a woman from Sudbury, is hiding crocheted Pokemon around her home city, creating a real-world version of Pokemon Go.

Samplonius said she started hiding her creations on August 16th and that the Pocket Monsters have been uncovered in Sudbury’s Lively, Copper Cliff and Memorial Park neighborhoods. According to an interview with Samplonius in the CBC, she loves discovering that one of her crocheted creatures has been found.

“I like to stay and hide them somewhere that I can sit at a bench or a picnic table and see who’s going to be the one to find it,” said Samplonius in to the CBC. “I’ve really just stayed anonymous and enjoy the excitement in seeing them find the Pokeballs or Pokemon creations.”

She says that since starting to hide the creatures around the city, she’s received hundreds of message on Facebook asking her to sell her Pokemon creations, though Samplonius also mentions that she has no plans to sell the home made toys.
