Nextbit Robin now available to order [Update – back in stock]

Those who missed the Kickstarter campaign for Nextbit Robin, a cloud-focused, colourful Android smartphone, now have a chance to purchase the device directly from the company’s website.

While the current exchange rate might be a factor, the Robin is available for $399 (USD) – which is $100 more that the pre-release crowdfunding price tag – bringing the smartphone’s current price close to $600 (CAD) when additional shipping costs are added in. The Nextbit Robin comes in two colours, Midnight and Mint. For those interested in the device, the GSM version of the Nextbit Robin is the best option for Canadians.

Since the smartphone is cloud focussed, each Robin comes equipped with 100GB of online storage, runs Nextbit’s Android skin, and features a Snapdragon 808 processor, 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, 2680mAh battery with quick charging, 13 megapixel rear-facing camera with phase detection autofocus and 5 megapixel front-facing camera.

Nextbit raised $1.3 million from 3,611 backers within 30 days during its Kickstarter campaign.

Update – Feb. 20th: Nextbit took to Twitter to announce that initial inventory of the Robin is sold out, which occurred in just two days. There was no indication from the company as to how many units it sold, but indicated that more stock will be available next week.

Update #2 – Feb. 23: Nextbit has replenished its stock of Robin and put the cloud-focused device back up for sale. The company is showing that Robin will ship to you within 2 weeks.
