Strategy Analytics: Nokia still largest global handset manufacturer, Samsung catching up

Strategy Analytics has released their latest report that shows global handsets shipments reached 390 million in Q3 2011, Nokia led the group with 106.6 million – representing 27.3%. It must also be said that Nokia’s market share has slipped 6% since last year. As for Samsung, they have increased their market share by 1.3% since Q3 2010 to have 22.6% market share and shipped 88 million handsets. In Q3 Apple managed to ship 17.1 iPhones and captured 4.4% market share – surely this will rise in Q4 with the iPhone 4S sales. ZTE made the cut and have a market share of 4.7% by shipping 18.5 million devices. Sadly, RIM is nowhere to be seen here, even with their new BlackBerry 7 devices.

Here’s the top 5: Nokia, Samsung, LG, ZTE and Apple (slipped to 5th place).
