Video Interview with TELUS Chief Futurist David Neale: “It’s about you.”

We sat down today with TELUS Chief Futurist David Neale and picked his brain about what he truly believes the future is about what it really looks like. He wrote a piece a couple weeks ago where he predicted what 2010 might pan out to be… but we wanted to did a little bit deeper and see what is beyond this year.

Neal stated the future will “definitely look very different than it is today… now you have a situation where Canada has the literally the leading networks, the key thing is bringing in the devices. I’ll be quite honest… what we are doing here is a lot of curation… I’m not going to make predictions on hardware, that’s kinda not important… It’s how it’s getting used that is important… it’s all about experience nowadays. It’s about You… it’s all about the individual.”

He goes on to say that “the future we see is all about increasing enablement, is about empowerment, it’s about providing creative disintermediation”. Check out the video and let us know your thoughts.

(It’s still uploading to YouTube and I forgot a piece in my tripod, so apologies for the shakes)

  2. Our money is being flushed away down the toilet to pay for the salaries of a futurist. How about passing that money onto your clients? There’s a reason why it’s called dope.

  3. I wonder if “creative disintermediation” means that we should be able to treat the wireless network as nothing more than a big, fat, dumb pipe? And, run what we want on it – e.g. VOIP applications? Somehow I don’t think that’s what he had in mind.

  7. incomplete? unfinished?

Spit it out, man – the suspense is killing me!!!

Regardless of what the futurist says, Canada is now in a position to be very advanced in the cellular world… Not a whole lot of countries have 2 completely different networks to choose from on one service provider.

Good advancements in tech…now we need some advancement in customer service and billing costs!
