Bell Storm promo competes against Rogers?

bellrogersstormGot an interesting piece of mail today – a Bell BlackBerry Storm flyer promoting all the capabilities and features. The somewhat strange part to me is one of the last pages says “Why Bell beats Rogers”.

Currently in Canada only TELUS is the other carrier with the Storm and they’re on the same CDMA network (but building a new network together). Rogers is on a GSM network and does not have the Storm yet, but has the iPhone.

Clearly I’m no marketing expert but my basic knowledge would be to go after customers who are looking to get a Storm from TELUS… unless Rogers is launching the 9520 sooner than we think.

Thoughts?

    1. My thoughts are that this smells like Bell has so much internal politics that they can’t put out coherent marketing or launch a product successfully.

    2. Maybe they are just trying to go head to head against Rogers and their iPhone? It makes perfect sense to me…
