Montreal-based MinorityVR to release Android Daydream VR game, LifelineVR

MinorityVR, a Montreal-based video game developer and subsidiary of Minority Media, has revealed plans to release one of the first Android virtual reality experiences to take advantage of Google’s new virtual reality platform, Daydream.

The studio’s announcement regarding LifeLineVR was made just minutes after Google revealed Daydream at I/O 2016. According to MinorityVR, LifeLineVR is an interactive experience with “advanced social gameplay features and 360-degree video.” There also seems to be a online component to the game that allows players to match up with one another in order to survive what MinorityVR calls, “life-threatening situations.”

“LifelineVR takes advantage of all the amazing innovations Daydream is bringing to the mobile VR market, leveraging the high performance of Daydream-ready phones, viewers and controllers for a fun and exciting social VR experience,” said Michael Zaidan, senior vice president of creative affairs at MinorityVR.

Daydream-capable devices are certified with a combination of hardware and software that Google deems ideal for its new Android virtual reality platform.

The Minority team is also behind the first Canadian-developed virtual reality title to launch on the Oculus Rift and is currently working on Time Machine VR, a virtual reality title headed to the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. Time Machine VR puts the player in the role of a time-traveler that’s exploring the Jurassic era’s prehistoric creature-filled oceans.
