TELUS to release a Black’s Photo app

WordPress article content

By Ian Hardy

TELUS purchased 113 Black’s Photo locations almost a year ago for $28 million. We’ve seen little movement on the brand except for more locations to get a TELUS device and the off promotion that includes free frames or prints. Speaking of, they currently have a promo that gives you 1,000 prints a year for each year of your 3-year contract. It’s a pretty good deal and speaks about where TELUS is taking the brand.

We don’t have any screenshots yet but one area of focus for TELUS is to develop a seamless app that integrates your TELUS phone, it’s camera and the Black’s brand. TELUS will be releasing many new apps this year – we’ve already seen the CFL app – and one of the next to be released is the Black’s Photo app that will allow you to order prints directly from your device (iPhone, BlackBerry and Android). We are also hearing that the app will have some sort of editing/image enhancement feature.
