Geely Auto has announced that it is officially entering the Canadian automotive market.
The Chinese automotive company says it will introduce its first vehicles to the Canadian market in 2027 and is currently establishing local operations and developing a retail network ahead of the launch.
“Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth,” said Bryan Wu, MD of Geely Auto Canada. “We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing out global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely.”
Wu also said that “We know that trust is earned over time, and we are committed to earning it here.”
The company says it enters Canada “backed by global capabilities in vehicle engineering, safety, electrification, intelligent technology and advanced manufacturing.” The Geely Auto Group sold more than 3.02 million vehicles globally, including almost 1.69 million “new energy” vehicles.
Geely is technically already doing business in Canada, but this will be the first time that the main brand will be sold here. The company currently owns Volvo, Lotus (which has already imported some of its Chinese-built EVs), and Polestar.
