I’ve heard that the American version isn’t going to have the side touch finger print reader. Has anyone heard about if Canada will be getting the US model or the European model?

      Canada gets the international version.

Where did you get the info?

The Z5 Premium, sold in Canada, has the fingerprint scanner enabled. Every Sony model with fingerprint scanner sold in Canada has had it enabled.

Awesome, I hope that’s still the case. Seriously considering it. I loved my Z3, best phone I ever owned till I stepped on it and bent the screen and sides. Poor phone, I will always remember you.

I have the Z Ultra and Z3 and I’ve been waiting to upgrade. I wanted the Z5 Premium but hated the 810 processor, didn’t care for last year’s X models. I think they nailed it this time with the XZ Premium. No other phone offers what this phone does.

Agreed. The camera looks great, slow motion video and that screen and I really like the mirrored finish. You just need to put a protective screen on the front and back to reduce finger prints.
I don’t mind the thick bezels because of the front firing speakers and I actually want somewhere to hold the phone.

100% agree with you. Love the finish on this. Will definitely get screen protectors for front and back. I hate cases.
The bezels are just right on this. I also have a Nokia 1520.3 and it the bezels are so small that it’s so easy (and annoying) to hit the screen if you’re not consciously holding it in a way that avoids false inputs.
The Huawei flagship is cool but a phone, for me, has to have dual front firing speakers. As a bonus, the XZ Premium has high-res audio as well.

Sony’s fingerprint readers on their mobile phones always work in Canada. BTW the US versions the hardware is still their. It’s just the software fingerprint readers are disabled. However if you know what you are doing, then you can enable them again.

The Sony XZ Premium is the best mobile phone (on paper and video) thus far. So looking forward to this.

I look forward to the date when we have the ability to load whatever OS we want onto the phones. I very much like the design but I greatly dislike Android OS. I would love to load this with Win10.

You do realize that Windows 10 is much more limiting than Android, especially when we are talking mobile. Android has all the latest drivers and hardware available to it. The same cannot be said for Windows, especially since it’s so closed nowadays. So only Microsoft can add updates to Windows for new SoCs, or new types of hardware that tie into their OS. It use to be back in the day when more people had access to Windows code, they could add new hardware and drivers themselves, but that has entirely changed today. Today Windows 10 mobile OEMs have to use certain processors and pre-approved hardware from Microsoft’s supported list. So how can Microsoft compete with Android, especially since Android can run on almost anything you throw at it?
