BlackBerry discounts Passport by 20 percent, accessories by 30 percent during Spring Sale

If you don’t mind going without native Facebook and WhatsApp apps, BlackBerry has a couple of decent deals for one of its latest BB10 devices.

The company today launched a new spring sale on its online store, discounting both the Passport and its entire lineup of first-party accessories.

All Passport variants, including the more expensive Silver Edition, are currently discounted by 20 percent. You can nab the standard Passport — either in black or white — for $479.20. The Silver Edition, on the other hand, will set you back $519.20.

All first-party cases, audio accessories as well as charging pods, travel chargers and batteries have also been discounted. BlackBerry has knocked 30 percent off of those.

Unfortunately, the company’s well-received first entry into Android, the Priv, is not on sale, though Priv owners can still get a new discounted case or two for their device.

BlackBerry 10 is a mess and barely functional right now; so much so that I had to move away from it, even if I used to be a proud supporter of the brand.. This discount ain’t even worth the dysfunctional mess you will get, unfortunately…

    • It works perfectly fine. It just doesn’t have a lot of native app support. Nothing to do with the OS

    • El Capitan Morgan

I think the lack of native app support is how everything started going downhill. If it weren’t for the two jack-a*s CEO, this company is still doing well and everyone is still proud of their Blackberries.

    • The lack of apps makes it not so consumer friendly but I think their android phones will be the consumer devices now.

BB10 will likely be purely enterprise.

    • Techguru86

There’s government contracts that can’t use IOS and Android so BB10 will survive, and it’s perfect for people that aren’t app hogs

    • OttoVonBismarck

Ah Bullshít That won’t remain the case forever

    • El Capitan Morgan

Ahhh.. mind u, i’ve started noticing people started carrying two phones. They just use their BB for work emails and tossed it back in their bag then get their smarter smartphone to do their thing.

    • jay

Like blackberry maybe a passport and a small table?

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

ROTFLMAO… it will remain as long as BBRY is the market leader in security… which doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon.

    • El Capitan Morgan

This government contracts are the only reason that is keeping BB alive. I am happy for that…since consumers market don’t give a crap about BB anymore 🙁

    • jay

I think so too. I am barley using any apps but little things make the experience better.

    • Ali F.

I guess if BB started making full touchscreen smartphones on 2010 or 2011, things would have been different now and developpers would have continue to make native apps and later join the BB10 system. Average consumers back then were still loyal to BB but started shifting towards Android and iOS because of the touchscreen. Some bad management and stubborn heads led BB devices section into this. On 2010 they had 20.7% market share, 27.9% iOS, 22.7% Android. They were arrogant and shortsighted when it comes to what consumers want.

    • El Capitan Morgan

Agree! they had their chances because people were even pleading RIM to make changes but these bastards refused to listen. Hence, people got fed up and decided to either go with iOS or Android. At the end of the day, those 2 CEOs don’t care, they got their huge pay cheque, employees lost their jobs, government and private corporation pension plans got affected, etc. Now I understand why @ottovonbismarck hated this company so much.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

You do realize that the Storm was released in late 2008 and the Torch 9850 was released in August 2011 (both all touch). Also, you do realize that the smartphone market has grown rapidly..which explains why BBRY sold more devices in 2014 than it did at the peak of its market share… yet dropped in overall share.

    • BBRYSUXBALLS_2.1

Yup, and it’s still a joke

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

Hahahahah look at this sorry assss loooser following me around. What a pressed fuq…

    • BBRYSUXBALLS_2.1

Right after you mash that home button.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

      Awwwww… truth hurt clown?

Ps. I don’t use an iTurd so I don’t have an ancient home button to mash you stoooopid fuq.

    • BBRYSUXBALLS_2.1

Says the saddest sack on the planet.

Enjoy being one of the few on SlackBerry.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

Hahahaah I couldn’t care less how many people use BlackBerrys… stay pressed dooooosh.

Ps. You calling anyone a sad sack…. fuggin priceless!!!

    • OttoVonBismarck

Yeah sure you don’t. If the company stopped making the hardware tomorrow and you were last person left using the piece of shjt you’d still be out here spreading like peanut butter.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

      Pressed? Much?

    • BBRYSUXBALLS_2.1

      Yes it’s quite funny actually.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

      so is your life…

    • Ali F.

What do you mean by mess. I have been using two Q10 for work and personal use without any issue. If bb10 is dying, I have to admit it, that does not mean it is a mess. On the contrary it is far superior to android and iOS, not to mention Windows.

    • Jo

The autocorrect, which used to be the best in the industry, is failing horribly on my Q10 and Classic. All social media apps are shadows of their old selves, and overall, bugs keep popping up everywhere. I’m not even mentioning the app gap, but that’s a given, since Android apps run very slowly and consume lots of energy.

Believe me, if I could go back to the days of 10.2, I would; It was the best phone I have ever had, and I loved the quick swipe gestures. I’m on android now, and I still miss them, being able to go to the hub was tremendously quick and fun… But now that we got the news that 10.3.3 is only coming in June (was planned for last month), I am just glad I jumped ships.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

      Barely functional? For what?

  • OttoVonBismarck

Chen trying to get rid of as much of his useless BB10 inventory as possible Should try marking it down 50% but even then most of this wouldn’t sell

Note to you BB10 lovers: The OS is dead and not sure how much more clear that needs to be made to you No one wants junk like this that doesn’t support apps and the options it provides

    • Ali F.

Your language is harsh but I must agree with you. BB10 will survive as long as Enterprise solution still need, and once a replacement is available, bb10 will join WebOS.

    • danbob333

Enterprise solution is not needed, that’s why BB10 is dead.

    • OttoVonBismarck

Hard to say beyond the ‘patch and maintain’ that the company will likely continue with but if you look at the rate of iOS/Android enterprise activations today it simply blows BB10 out of the water. The enterprise market for this company is much smaller than its adherents would have you believe.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

For someone that doesn’t use a BB10 device and has stated multiple times that he doesn’t care for BB10, it suuuuuure has you pressed.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

Look at OttoVonDoooooshbag back spreading his legs on a BlackBerry article like his momma spreads her legs on the street corner. BB10 and Chen sure has your backside inflamed, doesn’t it?

  • RS

They’d be smart to work on an android upgrade for the remaining passports.

    • Ali F.

Here also they are clueless. They never did it for the playbook and will not do it for the other devices. I wish I am wrong.

    • OttoVonBismarck

Why? One of the things I constantly hear is how the Passport would be good as an Android phone but seems to escape these people is that Android apps and the OS were never designed for a square screen. It’s the most ridiculous form factor and it’s part of the reason the phone never went over well. It’s heavy as a brick and not a device people are comfortable using with one hand. Like it or not the rectangular form factor is what OS has been optimized for these days and for most it’s not a big deal except to those who want to be different for the sake of difference alone.

    • Whaaa Whaaaa Flagging Cowards

Awwwww… look at ottovonnazi…conform to the rectangular touch screen or else. Yeah… a wider screen to browse the Web or read emails, texts, documents, etc presents no advantage whatsoever.

    • RS

You make a valid point but that point was made when the original passport was released as well and they’re is still a significant following. Passport users are after the bb apps, Docs, Web browsing, and reading on the passport. All the other android apps and integration are a bonus.

    • OttoVonBismarck

Docs to Go and Web browsing on the Passport are cr@p. And what BB apps exactly are you talking about? Don’t make me laugh.

    • BBRYSUXBALLS_2.1

He’s probably got a new GoogleBerry Privates.
