Android M Developer Preview now available for select Sony Xperia devices

On the day of its announcement at Google I/O in May, Google released the Android M Developer Preview for the Nexus 5, 6, 9 and Player. Debuting later this year, Android M puts a big focus on performance improvements, stability, and app permissions. It also debuts Google Now on Tap, a new context-aware search within apps.

Today, Sony announced a build of Android M Developer Preview available for some of its smartphones as part of its Open Device program. The company notes that, “It’s important to note that the AOSP software is not certified or intended for regular use. It’s only available for devices with an unlocked boot loader and comes with some limitations, for example, the modem and the camera are not implemented.”

– Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
– Xperia Z2
– Xperia Z2 Tablet
– Xperia Z1
– Xperia Z1 Compact
– Xperia Z Ultra
