All Android developers can now respond to comments in the Play Store

Big news for small developers: regardless of size, presence or popularity, all devs can now respond to comments in the Play Store.

Google previously trialled this service by allowing its biggest developers — the Gamelofts and SwiftKeys — to do so, but it was hard for small-time teams trying to make a name for themselves to do the same. The feature doesn’t seem to have rolled out in full, though it should only be a matter of time before your complaints can be heard, and dealt with, in one fell swoop.

Google+ integration was also recently added to the Play Store, forcing members of the social network to post comments under a real name, opening up richer commentary and preventing troll culture from taking over.

    let the flame wars begin!

      RIP Android 🙂

    I think this is great, both for developers and for users.

    Whether it degenerates we’ll have to see. It will be up to developers to learn how to handle user’s comments diplomatically.

    Should be very interesting to see how it works out.

    What do you mean you don’t like my application! Obviously my fart application is far above your intelligence.

  • zzzZZZZzz

    @skullan, I think it’s more to answer to stupid users than stupid devs. I remember recently browsing for lock screen apps for HTC sense phones. The app info CLEARLY stated that it only works on HTC one s, yet people were complaining that their Samsung phones weren’t working properly.

    So yeah, great news for devs. A lot of times, users don’t take the minute or two to read the app info.

    Nothing is more fun than throwing shix to each other, good job!!

    You kidding me? You actually support that bs that I have to sign up with my real name to comment on Play Store? You actually support their decision to force Android users into joinong their social networking platform just to leave a valid comment? You are fake.

  • Jimmy

    Well I hope they read through all those comments and consider ideas/fixes along the way And respond to them In a Timely Manner. Because for some, we pay $$. Lol

  • Jimmy

    Its to prevent trolling. Why your name shown.

      Just look at the number of idi*ts who keep on posting “RIP” comments on this site and you know why they need to have real names !!
