TELUS expands 4G coverage in Manitoba, now available in Selkirk, Victoria Beach and Steinbach

Good news for residents in Manitoba as TELUS has installed new HSPA+ dual-cell towers in Selkirk, Victoria Beach and Steinbach – this brings the total coverage to reach 66% of Manitobans. Peak download speeds could see up to 42 Mbps, but TELUS notes realistic speeds are actually between 7-14 Mbps.

TELUS noted in the press release that “The new wireless coverage in Selkirk, Victoria Beach, Lockport, Ste. Anne, Steinbach and along Highway 1 to Portage la Prairie brings 4G speed and reliability to these communities. Full coverage will be available in Portage la Prairie in early 2012, with service to Brandon expected next summer.”

Perfect timing for the Samsung Galaxy SII X, or even the upcoming Galaxy Nexus in January.

  4. i’m with telus as they got the best plan, just not the best coverage, the only real thing that irks me is if i’m outside the 4g, my phone doesn’t drop back to their other coverage,, I’d even be willing to forgo data to at least have voice in other areas

  5. Too little, too late. If Telus ever offers real coverage in MB or bite the bullet and signs a roaming agreement for the areas they won’t cover I would switch back. I won’t be holding my breath waiting for that to happen though.

  7. I’m ready to sign up with Telus. I’m currently with 7-Eleven (Rogers network), and I can keep a SIM with $25 top ups that last 1 full year. For the times I’ve travelling outside Telus coverage I’ll just pop my 7E SIM into my Telus phone (or just keep a cheap second handset).

$25 extra isn’t a hefty charge to enjoy the benefits of what Telus offers in their Manitoba plan.

  9. Bell’s CDMA coverage roams on MTS, but not there HSPA+. They currently use TELUS as a roaming partner in Manitoba.
