CRTC releases October 1st agenda for Globalive foreign ownership hearings

globalive-hearings2For those following the Globalive foreign ownership hearings, the CRTC has just released the agenda for October 1st. We want Wind Mobile to launch as much as the other new wireless carriers… TELUS, Rogers and Bell will have 30 minutes each to communicate closing remarks.

The hearings start and end with Globalive given 70 minutes (10 to open “if they so request” and 60 in closing remarks).

Best of luck and remember what Industry Minister, Jim Prentice spoke about the intentions of the Wireless Spectrum auction: “Our government’s intentions are clear: to achieve lower prices, better service and more choice for consumers and business. We believe in relying on market forces to the maximum extent feasible because competition benefits consumers, and consumers benefit most when markets are as competitive as they can be.”

    1. Windmobile, Publicmobile and Dave wireless would create so many jobs and help lowering the costs of our mobile phone service. It is a win win situation for the people as well as Canada. I hope all the new operators pass this hurdle. Good luck to wind for tomorrow. ss

    2. I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t want WIND to launch, not counting the big three of course. Their arrival can only bring positive change to wireless industry and its current stagnant state. This will prove a test of our government and whose intentions they have in mind.

    3. I don’t understand why the other the big 3 carriers are being given such input into this entire process.

If they want to lodge a complaint that Wind’s ownership structure doesn’t comply with current legislation, then fine, let them lodge a complaint. But isn’t it the CRTC’s job to make the decision? Should they not already have all the expertise on hand (or at least source it out) to make the determination themselves instead of relying on submissions from huge corporations that have a vested interest in seeing Wind NOT launch?

Rogers, Telus and Bell are hardly the most reliable source of unbiased information on the matter. Isn’t it kind of like holding a hearing on the fate of the hen and asking the foxes for their input?
