Synaptic announces plans to show off under display fingerprint sensor at CES

Qualcomm showed off a finger print scanner under a display back at CES 2016 using ultrasound. Then for CES 2017 Qualcomm showed off an improved version of this technology again called SenseID. So who ever can produce a reliable under the screen sensor for the masses at a relatively low cost will definitely win out. Things like facial recognition, iris scanners are all good, but having more than one option is better for everyone.

something both Samsung and Apple are reportedly still working towards with their devices, but haven’t managed to perfect

Except Apple Senior VP of Hardware Engineering, Dan Riccio, has already stated:

[…] we spent no time looking at fingerprints on the back or through the glass or on the side […]

Basically, Touch ID under the glass was never going to happen.

All kinds of reports said otherwise. Plus this technology has been show off since January 2016 at CES. There was even an Android phone that implemented the technology last year (2017). So why would Apple never look at the technology. That’s like saying we don’t care what the competition does. If that is the case then Apple’s iOS wouldn’t have changed much over the years. Android has pushed the envelope for years now, with Apple following suite.

So of course Apple has said that now because Apple is always looking to cut costs. So getting rid of TouchID is definitely cutting costs. No patent fees, reduced manufacturing costs, plus reduced hardware costs if they remove it all together.

But please, Brad don’t insult are intelligence. You are proving that you are one of Apples loyal herd. You will drink any Kool aid they make, and love it.
