Just in time for Christmas and other winter holidays, Google has added a new holiday-themed feature to Photos.
In an expansion of the app’s movie concepts functionality, Photos has started to automatically generate movies, complete with appropriately festive music, using users’ recent holiday-themed photos. If you recently visited your city’s Christmas market or just happen to have a lot of snaps of Christmas trees, expect to see the app curate those photos into a short film.
Google added movie concepts to Photos at the end of 2016. At the time, the company described the videos the feature created as “the kinds of movies you might make yourself, if you had the time.” In one recent and fun example of the feature, Photos started to collect photos of users’ pets, creating beautiful musical tributes to them.
It’s currently not clear if Google is rolling out this feature to all of the many different users that depend on Photos to organize and store their photos, so be patient if you don’t see something immediately.
