Sony unveils the Hori Mini Wired Gamepad for PlayStation 4

Sony has announced a new miniaturized controller for the PlayStation 4, the Mini Wired Gamepad from third-party accessory maker Hori.

The Gamepad is 40 percent smaller than the PS4’s standard DualShock 4 controller and has a simple form factor designed to make it easier to use for those with smaller hands, such as children.

Dualshock 4 and Mini Wired Gamepad

The Mini Wired Gamepad packs a 10ft cable and many of the buttons found on the DualShock 4, including right and left sticks, R1/L1/R2/L2 buttons, directional buttons and square, circle, triangle, cross action buttons.

However, some of the features of the DualShock 4 are not included in the Mini Wired Gamepad, including the light bar, motion sensing, stereo headset jack, speaker, touch pad or vibration.

Sony says touch commands on the Mini Wired Gamepad can instead be handled using the left or right sticks.

The blue Mini Wired Gamepad launches this holiday for $39.99 CAD. Sony has not yet confirmed a release date or any other possible colour options.
