BlackBerry has announced a partnership today with Ingram Micro Mobility to bring unlocked BlackBerry 10 smartphones to new markets across Canada. Ingram provides a robust sales network of VARs (value-added resellers), mobile carriers, and other retailers for BlackBerry to leverage.
While generally considered the long tail of device sales, the partnership could provide significant revenue for BlackBerry as the company pushes towards breakeven cash flow. Notably, Ingram Micro Mobility handles all unlocked device distribution for Motorola in Canada.
BlackBerry hasn’t provided any information for when or where its BlackBerry 10 devices will appear in Ingram’s supply chain, but indicated that specific information will be added to Blackberry.com in due time.
