Flipboard launches for Windows Phone 8.1 (again)

Flipboard

Flipboard for Windows Phone has been a long time coming. It arrived briefly last week, only to be pulled pretty quickly. Flipboard said that the version launched was an incomplete build. The company tweeted that this version was ‘staged on the store as a placeholder’ and swiftly removed it from the Windows Phone store.

Now, exactly a week later, the app is back, and it looks like it might be here to stay this time. The customizable news aggregation app is live on the Windows Phone Store and the last updated date is listed as today, October 2nd. It’s compatible with Windows Phone 8.1 and requires 1 MB of space on your device.

Flipboard was promised for Windows Phone last year, having launched on iPad and iPhone in 2010, on Android in 2012, and on BlackBerry in 2013. The app presents users with content from a variety of sources, including social media, in the form of a digital magazine. All you have to do is select categories you’re interested in and Flipboard will present you with relevant content in a tile-based interface.

Though Windows Phone 8.1 is relatively new to the market, it is already being used by nearly 40% of devices.
