Apple has officially revealed its first-ever MacBook with a touchscreen, called the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display, which is available for pre-order now and releases on November 6.
It comes in Space Black and Silver in 14-inch and 16-inch model sizes, with the 14-inch model starting at $3,999 and the 16-inch starting at $4,799.
Despite the company revealing the MacBook Pro with an M6 chip yesterday, the PROLED XDR comes with an Apple M5 Pro chip or an M5 Max chip. There are four different SKUs for the device: the M5 Pro with a 16-core GPU, the M5 Pro with a 20-core GPU, the M5 Max with a 32-core GPU and the M5 Max with a 40-core GPU.
The two M5 Pros start at 1TB SSD with max storage at 4TB; the M5 Max starts at 2TB with max storage at 16TB.
Of course, all the hype is around the 14.2-inch tandem OLED display with a 3024 x 1986 resolution at 254 pixels per inch. Because of the XDR, you can get a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and XDR brightness up to 1000 nits sustained or 2,00o nits peak for HDR content only.
The display can drop as low as 10Hz and go as high as 120Hz with multi-touch gesture support. The M5 Pro has up to 22 hours of video streaming, while the M5 Max has 20 hours of video streaming, both on a 72.6-watt-hour battery. It has three Thunderbolt 5 USB ports, an SDXC card slot, an HDMI port, MagSafe 3 and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
